Leadership Josh Birdwell

Josh Birdwell serves as senior vice president, chief information officer at Pilot. He is responsible for overseeing core technologies, including cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, enterprise technology and enterprise architecture. 

Since joining Pilot in 1998, Josh has held a variety of positions in technology with expanded scope and leadership roles throughout his 28-year career at the company. Most significantly, Josh led initiatives to modernize Pilot’s retail technology, including the launch of self-checkout and upgraded point-of-sale systems, and oversaw the development of the original myRewards Plus app. 

Josh graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree. Additionally, he serves on the executive board for the Boy Scouts of America Great Smoky Mountain Council.
